On 2 August 2024, the Information Commissioner's Office ("ICO") issued a statement identifying 11 social media and video sharing platforms that needed to improve their children's data privacy practices. The ICO made it clear that “poorly designed products and services can leave children at risk of serious harm… ” so enforcement action will be taken against platforms who fail to comply with data privacy laws.
